I'm not surprised Spring wasn't enjoying AoE2 before he switched to AoE4. Being stuck in feudal age because you are trying to stone wall your entire map isn't a very fun way to play the game
No. Give feudal age tools to punish walls. These nerf on walls due to Arabia meta is affecting other maps and strategies too. Better towers, more civs with trush bonus, and maybe Siege workshop for more civs in feudal age with maybe a smaller version of battering ram.Which is the best argument for wall nerfs.
I like the idea of better towers! Make them great again.No. Give feudal age tools to punish walls. These nerf on walls due to Arabia meta is affecting other maps and strategies too. But, I think the biggest change that has to happen in the next few years is to increase the starting number of villages. Maybe 6 or 9. Also, cheaper barracks with slightly nerfed militia for better map control in feudal age?
too watch maybe, to play for some. but i personally know i wont enjoy games with even less walls then currently. I have plenty of matches on the ladder where full walls arent a thing till mid to late feudal and having to rely on quick walls and army presence just makes the games even more snow bally than they already are. i think walls are at a good place and no more nerfs are needed.Saying that, less walls definitely leads to more attractive + more enjoyable games - KotD showed this perfectly. Which is the best argument for wall nerfs
As it turns out, memb was goin all out against aoe4 BEFORE kotd because he probably wanted to be beacon of hope for aoe2 content/viewers and immediately after he is done with kotd, he says he will make earthquake statement post kotd (possibly about aoe4).aoe2 officially ded. 1.2k biewers on somewhat rando stream
memb will have no problem farming aoe4 now

No we are getting into the real tin foil hat ****.As it turns out, memb was goin all out against aoe4 BEFORE kotd because he probably wanted to be beacon of hope for aoe2 content/viewers and immediately after he is done with kotd, he says he will make earthquake statement post kotd (possibly about aoe4).
He even has some fancy overlay for chat and blocking time in spectator specifically fitting aoe4 stream. One wonders whether all his posturing about aoe2 was all to save his tourney from disaster or real talk.
no he legit prefers aoe2. but there is just so much swimming against the current you can do. he'll just be shooting himself in the foot if he stays on aoe2 while all aoe2 pros will be on 4. he's a caster main after all.As it turns out, memb was goin all out against aoe4 BEFORE kotd because he probably wanted to be beacon of hope for aoe2 content/viewers and immediately after he is done with kotd, he says he will make earthquake statement post kotd (possibly about aoe4).

i agree with the sentiment but i think your ideas are way too extreme. how about increasing scout (but not lightcav) hp by 4 (and give the boar 2 more bonus damage), so they can take one more hit by archers and m@a, making them more viable, they will still die in the same time by spear men. reduce light cav upgrade cost from 150 to 100 and upgrade time from 40 to 30 seconds.No. Give feudal age tools to punish walls. Isn't that the game that was literally bricking gpu's? Could there possibly be any worse press than that? "This game will break your $1500 investment."New World has about 14% of users left from release, it was released same month as aoe4. Aoe4 is in gamepass and 3 months for 1€ is part of MS push for gamepass. Aoe games including aoe2 have quite a lot visibility gamepass and ms store title placement. game pass is currently at +30 million subscribers with ~40% growth within a year. MS doesn't if you keep playing aoe or not as long as you keep paying for gamepass. If you joined gamepass because of aoe4 microsoft is probably already happy as now you are more likely stay for another month
Aoe2 has lost around 50% of its userbase during 2021.
Liereyy started playing aoe4 today
Not only will a bunch of people continue to deny this, the admins here are assisting in suppressing any uncomfortable questions that are being asked in aoe4 tournament announcements.but it's undeniable one game is getting suppressed
I fail to see how a strategy game reducing the number of viable strategies is ever good for a strategy game, and I will always fail to see this. Feudal Age needs a tool to counter greed, not nerfing greed into uselessness.Saying that, less walls definitely leads to more attractive + more enjoyable games - KotD showed this perfectly. Which is the best argument for wall nerfs.
Less walls is always better really. At higher levels, someone starts walling everything, you’re forced to do the same or you get in a bad position quickly. Not the same at lower ones where you can get away with far more. It’s the main thing that drove me away from the game. Unlike the older era where walls were more “gentlemanly” and when I still was in love with aoe. Couldn’t wait to play, was dying to see the next 2500+ game, great times. Then it felt more like that job you hate but have to put on a smile and just grin it. Wonder if a lot of the tops or near-tops feel the same way.I fail to see how a strategy game reducing the number of viable strategies is ever good for a strategy game, and I will always fail to see this. Feudal Age needs a tool to counter greed, not nerfing greed into uselessness.
As for what KotD shows, it shows that map design is a far, far bigger factor on the meta than any wall nerf. The guaranteed rhinos/elephants alone is what makes Scouts and Archers fast enough to again compete with M@A, for example, and also introduced the new 2 Militia opener.
That's simply not true - walling is the main thing that is reducing strategies.I fail to see how a strategy game reducing the number of viable strategies is ever good for a strategy game, and I will always fail to see this. I don't think anyone will deny the shift in focus, but as I stated before, tournaments are planned way ahead of time. I fully believe any of the current tournament organizers and streamers fully expected AoE4 to be a big success and hopefully a great game. At least one of these two certainly doesn't seem to have been the case. Not only will a bunch of people continue to deny this, the admins here are assisting in suppressing any uncomfortable questions that are being asked in aoe4 tournament announcements.
What are you even smoking? 50$ Dlc? Is it african dollars? Also what changes and fixes has to do with payment? Maps? Only civs you gotta pay for. Like I understand you hate the game, still can't understand why as most of what you say makes zero sense, so can you at least put some logic into your rants?Dev: I know right, lets appeal to a larger audience! it will only be 50$ dlc's for every new civ and fix oh and maps that will make the pros hate life!
