it should be redesigned or become a campaign-only unit
the game is too fast-paced for a unit where you have to toggle modes. if i wanted to play a moba, i'd just play a moba instead of playing aoe2
i already have to fight 2 or 3 people most of the time because every other game is on socotra...
and now comes the part where we have to make daily sacrifices to the AoM dieties to hope that aoe2 doesn't add autoconvert with monks because it's impossible to perform the command with a xbox controller
they are okay in tiny maps, but DE messed up the more normal settings
other civs get to operate at 12/10 or 11/10 because of position-pick while celts are stuck at 6/10 with no ability to help the team
eco used to be good, but they power crept everyone else so even that is nothing special...
when you were still in diapers 12 years ago, i decided that what the world needed most was a map that would make this little brat mad once they're old enough to play aoe2
you discovered my plan. it was 100% sadism. no other reason. what secrets of the universe will you uncover next...
it is 100% a developer problem
they're the ones who refused to put a random civ queue. they're the ones who shoved position-pick into the game. they're the ones who decided to reveal the map so that everyone has perfect information for picking the civ
they claim that civs are balanced because...
every single map with wood on the outer edge and empty space in the middle has been trash
crater, socotra, arena, african clearing, DE's edit of ghost lake, steppe, wolf hill
they aren't random. they aren't interesting. they aren't strategic. the battleground is always the same
but they're...
they should move arena/BF to empire wars start
those are the maps where you don't explore. dark + feudal is useless
but they are clogging up the RM queue for no reason, making everyone waste 20 minutes booming and then having the game end immediately after because the teams weren't fair
aoe2 will have more players for singleplayer
don't know about multiplayer
the starcraft / warcraft players will move on once a good new RTS comes out, but i don't think that will happen within 1 year
halo's a different situation. that game generates lots of traffic and cross-sells so many things
halo gets a new game every year or every two years. there are lots of microtransactions (most multiplayer game revenue is mtx now, even for pay-to-play games). and it leads to xbox live...
spectatorZone shocked to find out that game developers prioritize advertising a new $60 game with future DLCs instead of a $15 game that everyone who is watching it would have already purchased
what's the ROI on an aoe2 tournament?
some random twitch/youtube people get money. a couple players...
the reason you don't get that many arabia games in TGs is because arabia is one of the the most-banned TG maps
can't even blame people for banning it tbh. the average player's experience is getting 1v2'd against smurfs on voicechat and then the game being over a couple minutes into feudal age...
we don't know how much of the multitasking / awareness / quick-reacting can be trained. you don't need to be amazing at it (2K provides some room for mistakes), but i would guess that half the people aren't fast enough for even that
but if you want ammo for "everyone can reach 2K", i have a...
some anti-dodging reform was 100% needed for teamgames. the game was unplayable when one ***** could get paired with the same players 10 times in a row and dodge 10 times in a row, wasting 7 other people's time 10 times in a row
1v1/TG uses the same logic because the game is mismanaged, and...
aoe4's novel additions are mostly bad/unnecessary. fortunately, they are also not a huge part of the gameplay
most of the advancement is just copied from post-aoe2 ensemble games, which they carried over into aoe4. there are probably some starcraft influences too
it's a lot of simple things...
