That is a very selective screenshot. Before NAC1 (in which Viper barely lost a group-stage match 3-4), he beat MbL easily 3-0 in the finals of EGM3. And exactly between the series in your screenshot, as is visible there, Viper beat MbL 4-2 in the HC1 finals. Right after NAC2, which you...
I mean, not to take anything away from MbL, but I feel calling him a counter to Viper was always a stretch and more of an aoezone wishful thinking or meme. He wins against Viper were in a minor tournament and the group stages of NAC. If we look at this, the truth becomes apparent...
Many here love watching AoE2 streams and especially tournaments. What makes the game so fun to watch? Aside from things like nostalgia, habit, playing the game yourself or the Medieval setting.
To me, AoE2 is so much fun to watch mostly for two reasons, especially when compared to other games...
Yes, I agree. I'm sure there's 1-2 examples to the contrary somewhere, but from memory Viper absolutely dominates every game in Imp, unless he has clearly lost already.
I feel games Viper loses are usually ones in which he gets a massive disadvantage in feudal age.

Most people seemingly only talk negatively about top players and their dynasty ending. So time for a short praise of Jordan:
He is obviously extremely positive and sympathetic as a person. However, beyond that he has proven in recent months that he is a top player, a force to be reckoned with...
Really glad Dave has once and for all shown that he is not (only or primarily) "the best co-caster" (I always found that moniker a little demeaning), but rather a top caster himself.
Funnily enough, Aoe3 players claim the game is more similar to aoe2.
It does have some elements from both, but I think it is way closer to aoe2 overall (disregarding obvious things like the timeframe):
- drop-off points
- no batch training, no shipment mechanic
- way more macro-oriented than...
Who do you think will do well in the first AoE4 tournament: Genesis?
This topic is not about complaints regarding who had more time to practice, but simply about the chances of different players we know will participate. I haven't been able to follow many AoE4 streams so far, so I don't know...
