If they make top tier campaigns, lot of casuals would buy. I saw the content and it was MID. Barely any more than the basic ones uploaded by Philly that I played for free.
I didn't buy obviously.
How is esports sustainable for Dota, LoL?
Or starcraft, if we are to make more of a 1:1 comparison?
In the long run, it has to be funding from sponsors, ad revenue etc.
I agree it doesn't make much sense for MS to keep pumping in the money themselves.
I cannot understand why it is not possible...
It's just dudes taking their frustration for getting a snoozefest finals.
But they taking it out on the wrong guy 11, blaming him for doing his job. Hera's just too good, and the current meta is favours his style as well.
Really tho, it sucks that Lierrey got giga stomped in the finals, when...
I see what you mean.
But in general, I have noticed that the usage of archers have diminished continuously over time. It isn't just a HC thing.
We saw a similar story in NAC as well, though not to the insane extend we saw in HC
Also, might be an unpopular opinion, but banning maps shouldn't be...
We don't even see archers anymore.
Look at this HC, dominated by scouts in vast majority of the games. Not sure what exactly happened, but I suppose it has something to do with cumulative effect of everything else getting nerfed multiple times.
I agree.
Militia line is in a drastic need for...
Really? That's insane.
Imagine how much it would've been if we got a proper final instead of the snoozefest.
I have noticed that the biggest aoe2 tournaments have as big or bigger viewerships compared to SC2. With much lesser prizepools
Still SC2 receives way more sponsonships.
What exactly...
Twitch + Youtube peaked above 60K.
Probably 62-65K was the peak IMO
Could've reached 70K easily if the finals wasn't such a snoozefest. My friend and I lost interest and started discussing random stuff mid finals.
I agree lol.
I remember when there used to be some parity between archers and...
It's unfortunate cause Lierrey is the only player capable of matching or surpassing current Hera. And he's infamous for being lazy.
Unless we get back prime Viper (not gonna happen), every finals from now on would be snoozefests like the final in HC5
Tatoh isn't beating Hera in a grand final...
Haven't played ranked for a long while, but the ranged units path abomination was VERY notable when I played mangudai madness.
Absolute disaster pathing
Yeah
It boils down to planning and willingness to make the initial investment aimed at long term returns instead of short term gains (I.e releasing new DLCs).
Dota 2 is a classic example. Initial willingness from the org to sponsor a high prize tournament TI 1. Which snowballed into a big...
True at the moment.
But if prize pools were high enough, shuffling would naturally happen once more organizations get into the scene.
Plus, team games would also give incentive for new and younger players to start out, if there would be a substantial prize for say 4-8 positions (which are VERY...
Bigger issue is the lack of competitiveness with team game, majorly driven by the lack of prize pools (IMO)
When you have 70K+ for 1v1 S tier, but team games capping at 30K, when that prize pool has to be SHARED, then there is a massive incentives issue.
Sad because I enjoy team games much more...
I'll add that the spike is probably lower because the aoe2 DLC is more expensive than it usually is (at least it was).
I for one, am waiting for the price to drop before buying it. Plus, not many new campaigns as well.
While aoe4 had a big discount to the game, along with many campaigns in with...
