Honestly I don't find this curious personally, but rather sadI am sorry i read wrong the profile so you have only played 196 games to be precise, it is still a lot of games, because you never lose a topic to talk bad about that game, its curious cus it seems you have played more games there compared to the games on voobly you have played on ur nick in the same time, unless you are smurfing ofc.
AoE2 in itself is, and always will be a fantastic game. DE couldn't have killed that unless it was literally on Warcraft 3: Reforged levels of bad. DE, HD Voobly+UK+WK+CA or GameRanger are all merely various iterations of the same, fantastic game.
I don't think if any of the "DE haters" AKA people who find Voobly to be better genuinely think that DE is a terrible release on its own. It can't be, because it's based on a fantastic original game, and it's really not like the devs did WC3:Reforged levels of bad job at it.
The issue begins only when you start comparing it to other platforms.
There is probably a sizeable number of people who find DE to be better than Voobly, which is.. fine, and partially understandable, but there's also a large group of people who find Voobly to be the better platform, including myself and probably Influenza.
For us, the issue isn't that we can't draw enjoyment from playing on DE, it's that the experience of playing on DE is worse than with Voobly. That's where the frustration comes from: a version of the game was released, which we find to be worse than what we had previously, yet we are kind of forced to play there, because most of the community moved there(at least as far as 1v1s go).
It's not really a situation where someone "says he prefers A, yet he still keeps using B", it's just that A, or Voobly in this case, stopped being a feasible platorm to play AoE.
And that's sad.
Really though, I think it's really high time that we just dropped the whole issue of DE.
It's obvious that the pro players community is going to stay on DE nearly no matter what, and so will the majority of the rest of the community.
Perhaps the release of WK with DE QoL stuff will bring part of the community back to Voobly, enough that it'll become playable again.
Otherwise in a year or so either the devs will finally improve DE to the point where it's good, or people will get fed up enough to a point where they'll return(MS funding of tournaments may or may not end by then too)
We just have to see, and there's no point in bitching around how bad/good DE is, as this just won't change anything
