What?
The Open Elo Cups are a series of community tournaments with an interesting twist! There will be several divisions for players to participate in, according to their elo. Today's announcement opens the sign-ups for the first division.
To make things more interesting, the finalists of one division will earn a direct invite to the next division brackets, as well as 2 coaching sessions with a high elo player. This means that a player who takes the tournament seriously could potentially participate in multiple divisions, and improve dramatically!
For whom?
Each division will have a increasingly higher elo cap. The first division for which this announcement is, has an elo cap of 1150 until the moment of sign-up, and an all-time high elo cap of 1175. They will also be required to have at least 50 ranked 1v1 games and have an account that is active since before this announcement.
There is a limit of 32 players. If there are more than 32 sign-ups, a small qualifier round will be required from the players.
If you're too highly rated for this tournament, you can wait for the next divisions to sing up to those!
When?
The first division will be played during April and May, after which we will have a pause of a few weeks before kickstarting the second division. This will give the finalists enough time to make the most out of their coaching sessions, and hopefully get strong enough to perform well in the next division.
