In my understanding, the post is talking about a tournament where all participants have 200% handicap. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think handicapped vs. unhandicapped experience would apply here? Even with accelerated eco, aggression is not buffed otherwise while defense is buffed. It might also be me reading this topic wrong though.That's not true at all based on my experience. I tried different handicaps before on my stream (idle TC in the start for x min, deleting my TC at pop 10, sending opponent my sheep..) and I also played with the new handicap mode. Vs players ranging from 1000 to 1700... All of those games resulted in opponents having way more resources to work with in the first 20+ mins of the game and therefore using their advantage to be as aggressive as possible, while I had to play extremely defensive while expanding my eco.
The issue with this tournament idea is that you'll end with way more unbalanced games than the balanced ones. Let alone, that 800 player with 200% would likely beat any player in the world.
