So this seems like big enough news that I thought it would be nice to hear what people think about it.
In case some missed it, Viper has just announced a few hours ago in his facebook page that he will be slowly transitioning from Twitch to the rival streaming platform created by Microsoft, Mixer.
Ill quote the whole thing here under a spoiler tag at the end of the post, but the most relevant part seems to be this:
"Mixer is Microsoft. Age of Empires is Microsoft. My game is Age of Empires. Being on Mixer will unlock interesting opportunities for myself both as a content creator and as a person who loves the game of Age of Empires." - TheViper
Now this is a move that obviously has Matt Salsa written all over it.
Matt Salsa as an outspoken Age fan has poured thousands and thousands of dollars into this game, thus supporting Streamers and Players alike. He also happens to be one of the founders of Mixer.
Now first of all, I'm incredibly happy for Viper.
This move shows to me that he is in close contact with Microsoft and that Microsoft wants him to be one of the major promotors of Mixer. This surely comes with some nice financial benefits attached and other perks.
No one deserves it more than Viper.
Many have only come to know him when he was already by far the best player in the World, but I actually still clearly remember when he was not. He worked very hard in his game to be where he is now and not only that, he also used to spend countless hours creating and organizing tournaments when people like Robo, Lanchi, Chrazini, etc. where not yet around.
Now my concerns:
- There's no doubt streaming has played a massive role in the increased popularity this game has been experiencing. Being Viper one of our biggest streamers, will him moving to an undoubtedly less popular platform (Twitch is obviously much bigger than Mixer) cause any harm to the viewership growth that we have been seeing?
- Will other streamers - Memb, T90, Nili - in the pursuit of similar good deals for themselves, follow suit? Causing an even greater loss of viewership?
Would be interested to hear what people think about the move.

Hey!
I know I'm not very active on Facebook lately, but I'm trying to inform you of the important news whenever there are any:
First off, apologies for the silence lately, I'm in the middle of moving to Germany, and still waiting for all my pieces to be delivered so I can start producing streams and videos again. I'm hoping to be back within a week or so.
I wanted to inform you about some changes coming to my future in streaming:
I will be transitioning to the streaming platform of Microsoft, called Mixer. For the time being I will be alternating between streaming on Twitch and Mixer, but come August, I will primarily be focusing on Mixer.
Mixer is Microsoft. Age of Empires is Microsoft. My game is Age of Empires. Being on Mixer will unlock interesting opportunities for myself both as a content creator and as a person who loves the game of Age of Empires. With AOE2:DE coming, and also AOE:IV, there are a lot of chances ahead. I cannot speak in detail, but hopefully I'll be able to show some things in not long!
In general, Youtube content will remain the same, except I might be able to show some cool stuff early on!

Love ya'll!
