Long story short, both the Long Swordsmen and the Two-Handed Swordsmen have been buffed a lot since The Conquerors, to a point where Two-Handed Swordsman statistics are very close to those of the Champion:
Two-Handed Swordsman ► Champion
Cost: 45 food, 20 gold with Supplies ► Same
Training time: 21 seconds, 15.75 seconds with Conscription ► Same
Hit points: 60 HP ► 70 HP
Attack: 12 melee (12+4 fully upgraded) ► 13 melee (13+4 fully upgraded)
Attack bonus: +8 vs Eagles ► Same
Attack bonus: +6 vs Buildings with Arson ► Same
Melee armor: 1 (1+3 fully upgraded) ► Same
Pierce armor: 1 (1+4 fully upgraded) ► Same
Line of Sight: 7 (5+2, because free Tracking researched automatically when reaching Feudal Age) ► Same
Added to the fact that Two-Handed Swordsmen design & aesthetics are more pleasing to my eyes than the Champs (and for ZeroEmpires too, if he didn't change his mind since),
and that Bulgarian Two-Handed Swordsmen, Japanese 2HS, Slavs 2HS with Druzhina, etc. are superior to most Champion out there…
Would you say upgrading to Champion is a good deal in 2k21?
