Yeah though he still won more S Tier tournaments than every other player in the year of his "decline", so it does beg the question, did his Dynasty ever end?
His dynasty was just on medical leave for a little bit.

Well in 2020 viper won nac3 and hc3 early in the year, after that he lost to mr yo and the red bulls(non rm), but he had his redemption winning hera's championship event, despite if you don't consider that a S tier event, viper dominated that event on RM settings late in the year, even in 2020 he won more events than anyone else, those 8 months you are saying were never reflected in his achievements, he started losing some tournaments but he was still winning more despite the classification or money in the event and this year wasn't the exception despite all the noise about losing hc4.He was clearly not the best after RBWI until the beginning of 2021. Those were 8 months were he kept losing vs Yo, Hera, Liereyy, Yo, Villese, etc. That was the whole point many of us made. He's the best now, and I have no problem saying it, but last year people kept claiming he was undisputed number 1 despite not winning any S tier tournament and losing regularly vs the other top guys.
Oh man. Don't remind me. I still get angry about it. I was in Korea at the time so stayed awake till 5 am only to see Viper lose. Not to take anything away from Hera, but the tournament rules which allowed him to play 3 home maps pissed me off so much. And it could have been a dream Viper Joadn final.even during hc4 he was dominant
By the way, does anyone remember him losing an Imperial Age (ever/recently) when he reached it without a big disadvantage already? It feels like he's just completely unbeatable in Imp. Lith vs Incas in the final as just one example.
Yes, I agree. I'm sure there's 1-2 examples to the contrary somewhere, but from memory Viper absolutely dominates every game in Imp, unless he has clearly lost already.
I feel games Viper loses are usually ones in which he gets a massive disadvantage in feudal age.
Maybe some examples from Lords of the Arena, the last big Arena tourney he played, but Arena is different like that and he arguably had civ disadvantages in some of those cases.
Because he is the GOATThe funny thing is also that for many other of the top4 players, losses in some tournies, even in earlier rounds, were essentially ignored, but for Viper they were made out as a big deal.
Pretty impressive but we should notice that DM is completely irrelevant.Viper performance is amazing !! In recent biggest tournament, whatever the settings are, he wins !
- EW : RBW 5
- DM : DMWC 4
- RM : KOTD 4
( - AOE4 : GENESIS)
how many cba tournament victories does viper have? checkmate.Pretty impressive but we should notice that DM is completely irrelevant.
Why?Pretty impressive but we should notice that DM is completely irrelevant.
DM was a gamemode created for players who cannot get into round of 32 of RM tournaments. It does not exist in the ranked queue either.
I see. The guys who get into top 32 of RM tournaments must think DM is beneath them or just hate money. Surely they don't suck at it.DM was a gamemode created for players who cannot get into round of 32 of RM tournaments. It does not exist in the ranked queue either.
Now we know it was more a matter of medical recovery, not really a decline, though. So it's questionable whether it was really a dynasty's end or just a "leave".Curious what other people think but I'd say Viper's dynasty definitely ended around the time of the first RBW, with his results slowly getting worse. He didn't win a S-Tier RM or EW tournament for over a year and even though he never placed outside the top 8 I wouldn't consider this part of his dynasty.
Arena is also very different because you have no elevation, less space, usually one fighting spot instead of multiple, often times no raiding options AND a bit of a simpler eco build up, so it's quite different to Arabia (or just generally open map) Imperial Age, so I wouldn't have thought of Arena when I askedMaybe some examples from Lords of the Arena, the last big Arena tourney he played, but Arena is different like that and he arguably had civ disadvantages in some of those cases.
That's why DauT doesn't bother with clicking units much. He knows.Age of Empires 2 is a simple game. Two players clicks units for 30 minutes, and at the end the Snake always wins.
I guess, that question only makes sense, when you restrict it to S-tier 1v1 tournament games.By the way, does anyone remember him losing an Imperial Age (ever/recently) when he reached it without a big disadvantage already? It feels like he's just completely unbeatable in Imp. Lith vs Incas in the final as just one example.
