added Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles in the poll (I know there were multiple FF Crystal Chronicles episodes, I only put the GameCube in order to not take too much space)Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
EDIT:
Also Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (1&2)
bold statement KappaI can’t pick just one 11.
As an old hardcore 7 fanboy, I believe nothing surpasses 7. Then X and XII (the Job system version) are also my top picks.
And if Remake was actually a whole game (huge sigh), that blows everything out of the water with combat/visuals imo.
That's cute. What RPG games have you already played?I haven't even played one of them.
Yeah I think the issue with Remake is the whole story and uh... ‘ghosts’ you know 11. Some serious issues there (at least with what was seen in the ending) but won’t spoil that for anyone.bold statement Kappa
I do agree on the importance of the game and its future influence for later RPGs, VII was such a breakthrough to bring great J-RPGs to the west, along with a fleshed out story and 3D gameplay.
I'm sad the remake is not up to par from what I've heard, I feel your disappointment 24
VIII is overlooked though. For all the love VII gets, I don't understand why VIII is shoved under the carpet by most gamers. I guess it's the romance-laden adventure and most of its environments (lel universities).
Tifa > Yuna from my subjective PoVYuna or Tifa, thats the question.
Lulu. Maybe Scarlett from Remake too.Yuna or Tifa, thats the question.
I'm definitely a Lulu guy. She's like the "big tiddy goth gf" incarnation, before the expression even existed KappaLulu. Maybe Scarlett from Remake too.
Not even just about her attractiveness, but also that she has some sweet side. Like when she comforts Yuna in Kilika after she sends everyone. Different than what is initially shown in Besaid about her (temple and the nighttime scene). Something sweet is definitely there.I'm definitely a Lulu guy. @Jarvin I know you are reading thisNot even just about her attractiveness, but also that she has some sweet side. Like when she comforts Yuna in Kilika after she sends everyone. Even IRL, some of the “hard” people on the outside that I have known, both men and women, have had that sweet part in them.
Exposed! 11111@Jarvin I know you are reading this
JRPG's: Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade 2, Xenoblade X (though didn't finish it), Fire Emblem 3 H (although it's more of a tactics game - still fun though) and Octopath Traveler which I'm playing right now, just started in fact. And a long time ago I played Phantasy Star III on the Sega Genesis. That's cute. What RPG games have you already played?
Good points. And yea, I agree VIII had a gorgeous OST.Yeah I think the issue with Remake is the whole story and uh... ‘ghosts’ you know 11. Some serious issues there (at least with what was seen in the ending) but won’t spoil that for anyone.
I do like 8 actually, but not as much as the others. For me, the setting isn’t an issue, more the main character. Like Squall was basically Cloud 0.5, much like how in 13, Lightning is just the female Cloud equivalent. Felt too forced that way imo, because so many players liked Cloud so I guess they tried to replicate him. The Rinoa x Squall thing didn’t bother me too much really. I will say 8 has one incredible OST, one of the top 3 bests. Liberi Fatali, Vithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec, Ragnarok theme, the Exteme so on. So many incredible tracks.
I yet have to discover XIV, but from the articles and videos I've seen, it seems to be solid entry to the franchise.Exposed! 11111
Hard for me to say anything valuable in this topic. Me being relatively on the younger side + videogames and consoles being borderline inaccessible when I was growing up prevented me from really getting into the FF series at its peak
Only thing I can say is that since July I've been on a break from AoE because I got into Final Fantasy 14, I've finished the most recent expansion - Endwalker - about two weeks ago or so and I'd easily put this as the best story in any videogame I've ever got to experience, and apparently - according to some connossieurs of the franchise - it's not even the best in the series(?)
So I'm preparing for some Final Fantasy marathon at some point, guess I could use this topic as a reference point :P 11
Thanks! I will check the video outI yet have to discover XIV, but from the articles and videos I've seen, it seems to be solid entry to the franchise.
I wasn't crazy about XII, and I wasn't a fan of XIII at all, so I gave up later installements... for now.
I'll play XV one day, and XVI when it'll came out
If you ever start a FF marathon, be prepared because it'll take a loooot of your free time.
You can do it hardcore and start with the first one, but if you want a more informed choice, look at this video:

I wasn't nicknamed the Pollmaster for no reasonI appreciate the effort of putting all those poll option together. I couldn't even read all of them.
I think FF9 is a very nice place to ""start"" your Final Fantasy journey, first of all because it is an absolute gem, and second because you can easily go in whatever direction after that (onwards or backwards)Thanks! I will check the video out
and yeah, you are right, my goal is to go through the entire franchise at some point, but I realize that it's going to take me a loot. Maybe I could dedicate a few weeks to it next summer if things align ^^
In the meantime, based solely on the recommendations from some people, I was considering playing through FF9+ it's the origin of "you are not alone" and "melodies of life" which are among my favorite musical pieces I've ever heard.. and that's without even playing the game
And yeah I can really strongly recommend FF14, as silly as it sounds it has really been a life-changing experience for me, in the kind of life relief it gave me, the incredible story it has, but also some truly fantastic and special people I've already met in it - granted that the last part might've been just my luck 11
Also FF14 has IMO easily the most diverse and among the best soundtracks of any game that I've ever played or heard of, from
