This conversations needs to happen, I agree. But not publically, where everyone can trow their opinion anonymously, including attacks. These conversations need to happen.
As a tournament host are you worried that you would be forced to make difficult decisions in future if this conversation happens?
No one is attacking anyone here. If they do they should be banned. This conversations needs to happen, I agree. But not publically, where everyone can trow their opinion anonymously, including attacks.
Again I don't believe this is the place to talk about this. Like politics, like religion.
But again, it's just my opinion.
Tbh, “Anti-Vaxxers vs Vaxxers” basically looks like the new Athiests/Agnostics vs Theologists. Seen some of the discussions, never ended well. While no one did insult anyone in the other topic, there were certainly some edgy-feeling posts. And like someone else mentioned, why bother making a topic like that if you aren’t going to mention the name? It was spilt anyway though it seems. Why?!
And why was the other thread closed?!
No one was insulting anybody.
People were just talking about something that affects all of us, why shouldn’t we be allowed to talk about something affects literally the whole world?
I find the closing of threads really weird…If someone is unable to discuss without insulting other people then ban that person.
But none of that was happening in the other thread!
Some people are so scared of reading things they don’t agree with nowadays, it’s so weird.
Except someone's atheism or personal religious beliefs never hurt others. The other thread was not about convincing or cancelling anti-vaxxers in the aoe community but to ensure they don't hurt others during an event where other players and fans congregrate. So, there's no need to mention names.Tbh, “Anti-Vaxxers vs Vaxxers” basically looks like the new Athiests/Agnostics vs Theologists. Seen some of the discussions, never ended well. There’s also no real line for moderation on here really. Or at least, I can’t see it. Sometimes I’m not sure why there even are mods.
There's a clear distinction here: in Atheist vs Theologists we don't have a clear 100% right side.Tbh, “Anti-Vaxxers vs Vaxxers” basically looks like the new Athiests/Agnostics vs Theologists. Sad to see there are 13 trash people showing up in this thread till now.
Is Jordan that kind of person??? Huge disappointment
If someone's simple-minded to believe insane conspiracy theories online that can easily debunked by some research, then okay it's their choice. But their stupidity should not be allowed to harm others in the process.
Is it even possible to really be an anti-vaxxer these days? That’s another thing on why I don’t understand the topic. I am unaware of other countries, but here there are mandates that if you aren’t vaccinated, you aren’t going to get through the door to many places. Are other countries enforcing that as well? There’s some regulations with chess tournaments if I am not mistaken as an example. Something like tested daily or proof of vaccination or both.Except someone's atheism or personal religious beliefs never hurt others. Sweeping the problem under the rug is a ridiculous thought. And that's people is why I wanted this thread close
I don't support personally harassing them in any way as well. But should they have some civil rights (like competing in physical tournaments) revoked until the pandemic ends? Absolutely. And should we enjoy each opportunity we have to say antivaxxers are wrong and risking people's lives? Absolutely as well. From the Spring and Naomi situation, Spring said he got harassed and sent death threats for a whole week. That was over a gross misunderstanding. It almost seems inevitable Jordan will probably get some nasty messages judging from a few posts from that topic on how some were genuinely angry (not saying those in question will send hate-messages). And how fed-up people are with covid in general. Myself included in there as well btw, but I certainly won’t harass anyone over choosing to not want to get vaccinated. They’ll have to live with their decision one way or another.
i don't know who brought up Jordan and i have no comments on that but my earlier thread was about anti-vaxxers not being allowed in future AoE LAN events in general, not about singling out any particular player. Is it even possible to really be an anti-vaxxer these days? Maybe you didn’t intend to really slander/cancel Jordan and I believe you, but will he really not be harrassed now the slightest bit? Hundreds of millions of people around the world have been taking flu shots (also from the corona virus family) once every 6 months and no one has ever complained about it before. Why is having a vaccine shot once a year against a deadlier virus a problem?I'm on my 3rd dose and honestly starting to question whether this was the right approach. The vaccine makers and pushers overpromised and underdelivered. We have to get our 4th shot soon. This is madness.
Investment into healthcare infrastructure would have been a more prudent course of action. Increase ICU capacity, increase compensation for healthcare workers.

Wanted to write in the other thread but since that is locked, I'll write here instead. I was a bit shocked when Jordan said he wasn't going to get vaccinated last year. Jordan is one of the nicest guy but I couldn't understand him. I even asked him in chat that if we don't believe the experts in a field, who do we believe in? His response was that there were other experts who disagreed about the vaccines. I have not been in twitch a whole lot, but I haven't heard him talk about it after that. If he has not yet gotten vaccinated, I'm sad for him. In his defense, I don't think he has tried to influence others to not get vaccinated as most people didn't even know this.
"Trash people" is maybe a little much but everything else is completely within reason. If something is stupid then you are allowed to call it stupid without that being a personal attack. And that's people is why I wanted this thread close
Leave my thread alone. If some want to show how rude they are to other fellow AoE2 fans, it is their problem. And that's people is why I wanted this thread close
nonono you don't understand, unvaccinated people are the reason for all the worlds problems and if it weren't for them I'd be eating brunch right now with friends, but instead i'm all alone in my house even though i'm quadruple vaxxed and masked (i opened the window for some fresh air earlier)Leave my thread alone. If some want to show how rude they are to other fellow AoE2 fans, it is their problem.
If there's a good thing about COVID, it's that it showed the true nature of some people you know, whether it is nurturing or evil.
Those who spread oil to the fire and encourages horizontal division between vaccinated and unvaccinated people are almost all evil in my book.
I read online where some low-key want others' people camp to die from COVID. Yikes.
Gives me creeps and St. Bartholomew's Day massacre vibes. If you're so COVID-obsessed to hate one camp or the other, I suggest to leave your loathe to yourself, shut down your television/news articles, and probably do something in your hollow life.
