I believe he said he would practise and focus on Aoe2 which means he is going for the prestige not the monies. So can we assume that he will mainly focus on AOE2, but also participate AOE4 RBW?
Sorry if he answered in stream, i am not really watching FB streams.
A more accurate quote from his stream this morning was "I'm going to show up and basically Yolo AoE4"I believe he said he would practise and focus on Aoe2 which means he is going for the prestige not the monies.
I guess Vipur is going to participate in both and just see how far he can go at Aoe4 without a lot of preparation xD

Lmao get that money!
Who? What is his name on twitch?
You are simultaneously arguing that he won't make any money because he will yolo AoE4 and get eliminated early, and also that his training will negatively impact his performance in AoE2FWIW, I think the Viper playing both AoE II and AoE IV in Wololo:Legacy is a bit risky. We know that playing both games has a negative impact on his ability to play; I mean, he got eliminated from Deep Waters 2 by BacT, against whom he had never lost a tournament match (out of 16), just before Golden League started. And Empire Wars is not his best game mode. So I think his split focus will hurt him, both in training and in the tournament. I don't believe for a minute that he is not going to train for AoE IV at all.
And as far as the money goes, the best he can do in the AoE IV track (assuming he does not get out of the group stage of AoE IV, which I think as reasonable if he is yoloing it) is $8,500, assuming similar pool splits to the other Wololos. Again assuming similar splits, if the interference stops him at even one level lower than he would have made otherwise, he would at least lose $11,666. And even if it doesn't make him lose, both he and the fans will *think* it made him lose. So unless he takes first place, this decision will niggle the back of his and our minds. So, risky.
You are right; this is exactly what I am arguing. Yet you somehow see it as contradictory? You are simultaneously arguing that he won't make any money because he will yolo AoE4 and get eliminated early, and also that his training will negatively impact his performance in AoE2
Yes but this is all assuming that he trains for both games, which he has repeatedly said he will not do. The games are also intentionally not conflicting so that players can compete in both, so I just don't see how it will negatively impact himYou are right; this is exactly what I am arguing. Yet you somehow see it as contradictory?
To be as basic as possible, I am saying that unless Viper wins the tournament, we will always wonder if having to play both games was a proximate cause of his failure to advance. And unless he gets beyond the group stage of the AoE IV part of the tournament, he would have won more money if he had simply advanced one more round on the AoE II side.
Parsing the $300,000 using the same split in other Wololos, the best anyone in the bottom 8 gets is $8,500. The difference from being in the 5-8th place and the 3-4th place in AoE II side is $11,666 using the same formula for $200,000. The difference becomes greater the more rounds you go. So if Viper fails to go beyond 5-8th in AoE II because he has been fussing with AoE IV, he will lose $3,166 (because he would have won $11,666 more by advancing, but instead he gets the $8,500 from the AoE IV side), plus suffer reputational loss, emotional distress, etc. The losses get worse if he fails to reach 2nd or 1st.
And I agree that these don't have to happen. He can win both tournaments and bask in glory. Which is why I described this behavior as risky rather than foolish.
It is just that there are downsides that are not obvious.
You are probably right and I am overthinking it.I just don't see how it will negatively impact him
Yeah and I think $$$ wise he has a chance to be the highest-earning player at the event. I think even a "bad" finish for him in AoE2 would be top 4, and I still think he has potential to be top 8 in AoE4 with little to no prepYou are probably right and I am overthinking it.
Still, especially since he was eliminated by dogao and BacT from DWPL:2, I have to think that playing both games simultaneously will have *some* effect. Even if he doesn't train, he will still need to prepare a little so he doesn't look like a complete fool. And at the tournament itself, he will need to switch context every day, which is a switch in focus that would certainly affect me, and is a switch the other players won't need to make.
So I agree that the effect will likely be small, and perhaps it won't exist at all. But when the stakes are high and the quality of play is this intense, and the game mode is less familiar, small distractions can have big effects. And even if the effect is null, if he doesn't win, the commentary will certainly blame the dual-focus.
I just realized that the dual-focus will be a nice excuse if he doesn't win, even if it isn't true .
Does anyone care? Let Viper do whatever he wants. Its still (quoting my exwife) "Small men chasing other men with toothpicks and horses", When Viper grows up he will leave AoE and become a Dentist, Daut will be President of Serbia and Jordan the new Uri Geller. Let them be and let them earn some before they grow up!has TheViper actually said if he would play 2 and 4 or either?

Yes, he has said he will focus and exclusively train for AoE2, but will play both games at RBW.has TheViper actually said if he would play 2 and 4 or either?
"Why care about what Viper does..but listen to what my ex-wife has to say."Does anyone care? Let Viper do whatever he wants. Its still (quoting my exwife) "Small men chasing other men with toothpicks and horses",
Cause even a stopped clock is right twice a day?"Why care about what Viper does..but listen to what my ex-wife has to say."
Hmmm.
What is the toothpick and who are the small men? Very confusing statement.Does anyone care? Let Viper do whatever he wants.
