Vietnam went all the way, knocking out Brazil A, trading blows with Canada and now they lose 5-0 to Finland? How is that even possible? Finland was easily their least difficult tie and they didn't win a single game.
Not to bash Finland, but it reminds me of Argentina losing to Norway in the group stages. Credit to Norway (and Finland here), but it was a bizarre collapse from Argentina after they had done all the hard work of defeating China.
G1 Dry_Ara Could have gone either way
G2 Rooster They did some weird strategy with weird civs that had no real chance of succeeding. Even without Max landing knights, Ruben would have been able to kill with Mayans
G3 Black Forest They boomed badly, we still wasted our advantage and could have lost the game but our map was way better to trade on.
G4 Nomad Vietnam did weird docks and their viking had an awful spot
G5 Land_Nomad Cool, with their mongol got defeated. After that the game was still even but we just had to hold for the 4v3 to win us the game ( and enemy team not having mongol).
I feel we did better strategies and got way better maps. In comparison against Canada our civ spots and maps were worse and we got out smarted. That is why both match-ups were close to 5-0 results.
I just hope they would reduce amount of games for next tourneys to maybe Bo7 for final group stage and increase amount of fair maps (aka remove LN and Nomad). This way the tourney would be more enjoyable to both players and viewers.
Gj finland, kind of expected for me(not a 5-0 though), i watched a lot of Finland recs and streams, they execute a great teamwork and their overall macro thinking, and strats is most times what the games required, proper slings, at proper times in proper amounts.
finland has great team chemistry -- a well deserved 3rd place finish. congrats -- a 5:0 even with a little luck is still VERY convincing. its not easy to beat that vietnam team,
