In what I understood from the podcast, the annoyance of monks was that even making 1-2 monks and garrisoning them inside your tc can slow down the game a lot by discouraging cavarly raids. And ultimately those 2 monks will get a ridiculous amount of value even if they only pick up a couple of relics or heal a lot of units. I don't think RNG is the problem.
Another possible suggestion would be to disable garrisoning monks inside the TC. This would have almost zero effect on aggressive monk play but would make a big difference in how effective defensive monks vs kts are!
