Don't worry, you are not alone wondering about that..What makes them better than
It is relatively their best map. They most powerful unit is the UU (Free Castle) they are are a bit vulnerable early(free Stonewalls) and the have amazing power in Imp(which you reach 99% of the time). So Foretress checks all those boxes.Hi, I didnt watch my games of Wallhala, but in the results I see Bengalis being picked lots of times (as they are usually considered as weeker civ). What makes them better than for example Chinese, Vietnamese or other ususal picks?
Thanks!
I think you overestimate these comps. Rathars in melee mode are decent vs skirms because of their minimum range and you can just add light cav in front of the rathas if you face a lot of skirms.Don't Rathas just die to full skirms? I feel like we haven't seen enough of civs match vs Bengalis on RF. Like Byzantines with a cheaper imp and 90-100 vils can make so many skirms - halbs bbc. What do bengalis make vs that? Or Lithuanians Skirms with more armor with leitis
Chinese also should win on paper, with Skirms and Heavy Camels and eco bonuses, but people keep opening chu ko nus because of meta.
Skirms are definetly good vs Rathas but they dont pressure anything so you have time to Switch into Onagers with Siege Engineers.Don't Rathas just die to full skirms? amazing! They are top tier civ on RF mainly for these reasons:
1. Their eco is amazing on RF, at the point they hit imp (and RF is definitely a booming map), they'll surpass all other civs in vil number and eco strength from that moment onwards.
2. Their UU counters all UUs of other top RF civs that can compete in eco such as China, Cumans, Maya, even Burg to a certain extent.
3. The extra armor on monks in combination with their UU puts them in top 2 at securing the relics with minimum investment (along with Burgundians).
4. With the same cheap combination of a few monks and a few rathas they can also easily secure map control without slowing down their imp time much to either push hard early imp with fwd castles and forced treb war or simply use that information to correctly choose the counter to whatever the enemy (without map control) is opening with.
RF is not Arena, it's a very straight-forward map, castles are built on hills, it's much easier to stall the game out and if you're holding 4-5 relics at 215 pop, you'll always be in a great spot even if your ultimate imp army comp doesn't look that scary on paper.
