Aoe4 is still going strong (and has great potential). I don´t expect it to drop below AOE2HD within the next 3 months at least
Guys, let's just give up. RTS is a dead genre.Right at this moment, aoe2 has only 800 viewers on twitch ; oO
...and aoe4 has 70
Well I have no idea about the numbers, although I think League is dieing quite a bit too, mainly probably due dumb patches and having way too much damage, which they finaly tried to adjust with the recent so called durability patch, but took them like 2 years since the item changes, at least most of my friends did quit League due it got way more imbalanced than it ever was. And at least from my own experience league is in pretty much worst state than it ever was. Well maybe this new patch changed some things for good, didn't try it yet, but still, feel like prime of league is gone.Guys, let's just give up. RTS is a dead genre.
Time to move to League of Legends
I think @stanno made an allusion to Hera not necessary to moba genre.Well (...)
Pretty sure he's joking lolWell I have no idea about the numbers, although I think League is dieing quite a bit too, mainly probably due dumb patches and having way too much damage, which they finaly tried to adjust with the recent so called durability patch, but took them like 2 years since the item changes, at least most of my friends did quit League due it got way more imbalanced than it ever was. However apart dumb bugs, which also happens in league too, but less often ofc, aoe2 is way more balanced.
League overal was/is great game though, sadly it took weird path last years. But it is super easy to get into game, also can chat more during walking/being dead, has aram mode which is even more chill. I feel like such design overall makes people jump into next game easier, while aoe2 is more stressful especially 1v1, have to be fully focused pretty much whole game, not to mention even before game you might get a map which you do not want to play at all.
Would be good to have some mode to chill, like tower defence of aoe2 or something. There are so many times when I feel like I could play a game or few, but too tired for ranked.
I mean we sort of do, it's called the lobby browser. There's almost always CBA and Forest Nothing lobbies open, and if there's not you can just make your own. CBA ones at least fill up super fast, I often can't join before they're full.Would be good to have some mode to chill, like tower defence of aoe2 or something. Yes, I agree, there is some of those activities. However people would for sure jump in way more if it would be as a queue. Didnt try CBA, tried to create DM few times, no one joined. I mean they are not related much, just had bad experience with lobbiesI mean we sort of do, it's called the lobby browser. Castle Blood Automatic. What is "CBA" ?
Castle Blood Automatic.
There are several versions, but the most common "Requiem" version is 4v4. Each player has a small base with walls, gates, and some Castles, with gates that lead out into a large featureless central area. Your UU continuously spawns automatically in your base (up to a certain unit limit << pop limit), and you have to fight the other team. Killing units advances you to the next age, and razing enough enemy buildings (including gates) gets you vills. Since you have infinite resources you just need to build production buildings with your vills, which is beneficial because you can produce far more units than your original UU limit.
It's good for casual relatively mindless gameplay, but it's also good practice for UU familiarization, micro, and unit spamming.
Was huns for my very first cba 11, yes you get flamed a bit. Still one of my favourite game modes, and you can find a game fast basically at everytime of the day.CBA is fairly intuitive after a while and helps teach micro. Would recommend.
You'll get flamed a few times before you figure things out but truly good players will teach/compensate.
I think I remember seeing Dave playing this (or something similar) in his stream, seems fun.Castle Blood Automatic.

Meanwhileaoe4 averages 3 digits viewers on twitch for a couple of weeks now
Imagine the numbers without demuslim and beastqt, who only stick around because they dominate the scene and its easy money for them. This mobile game is even worse than aoe 3, but 3 didn't have such an absurd prizepool which forces some good players to stick around since its free money for them.aoe4 averages 3 digits viewers on twitch for a couple of weeks now

The initial comments and reddit posts were about aoe4 replacing aoe2 and how can people play a 20 yo game when the new shiny and improved thing is out(?!?!?!)Funny thing is that for me (and probably most people) it was crystal clear from day 1 that this game is crap. Still some pretend it’s not and it’s beyond my imagination how anyone can think that.
I mean, I obviously understand that once you are paid by Microsoft you need to speak in their interest publicly
(I myself would never publicly say that the company that is paying my bills makes shitty products. I would actually lose my job if I did that)
