The new civs are ruining Age of Empires 2 and it's time to take action. Originally this game was about skill, but now even the best players have to cheese the new civs to have a chance at staying competitive. We have to send a clear message to microsoft that we will not tolerate this pay2win bs any more.
Let me start at the beginning: the new UU is absolutely broken. Seriously what kind of ***** thought that you could just add a ranged knight to the game and expect that to be balanced? They literally kill f***ing everything and have no counter, except skirms which are too slow. Spanish are clearly stupidly OP and should never have been in the game anyway. Also the unit just looks f***ing dumb, riding around on a horse with a musket which is completely stupid in a game supposedly set in the middle ages. IN CASTLE AGE. Yes a mountain musketman fighting Norman-era knights in chainmail armour. What a f***ing joke. But that must be it, you're thinking, right? Wrong: Spanish also get all blacksmith techs for NO GOLD!!! How is that balanced?! Needing to spend gold to tech switch into a new unit type is one of the main ways in which the game is balanced for lategame, forcing you to actually fight for gold income... unless you're Spanish in which case you basically can do any tech you like for free!!! Ok but that's all right... WRONG AGAIN! On top of everything else Spanish ALSO get +25% trade income FOR THEIR ENTIRE TEAM!!!!! Say goodbye to tg balance folks, get used to people picking Spanish for EVERY team game from now on. And to cap it all, their builders work 30% faster, making them absolutely broken on this new "Nomad" game mode, which is actually fine because everyone knows how stupid and boring that map is anyway.
But that's not all: let me tell you about the Aztecs. For starters, ALL military units are created 11% faster! That's right, every single unit! HOW IS THIS MEANT TO BE BALANCED?! Basically Goths are useless now, everyone will just play Aztecs instead, or one of the other absurdly broken new civs. And on top of faster working Barracks, Archery Range etc. they also can get monks that are basically indestructible. The WHOLE POINT of monks is that they are WEAK to melee or ranged damage, otherwise why even make army?? Just spam their armour plated monks and convert everything. And if that doesn't work, just switch to spamming their "eagle warrior" unit which is basically a knight but can't be countered by pikemen or monks??? WTF??? The only counter to the ridiculous eagle warriors is the champion, which is too slow to catch them anyway, plus their UU is just like an even better champion anyway so why even bother. Oh and also they start with +50 gold because f u if you want to play without the DLC and have any chance of winning.
Don't even get me started on the Huns. Are you a total noob who can't find the "house" hotkey? Then have ms got a pay2win solution for you.
In short I call on the aoe2 community to rejec this cancerous predatory marketing cash grab and insta-gg whenever you find yourself in a game vs. any of the new civs. #GamersRiseUp
