In game hours : 87 (I don't know exact play time left game open couple of times)
This gives you an idea of my current understanding of the game. My question is Arb/ Archer civs.
I could link a replay of two games I lost but you can find them on my profile the game was aztecs and huns both games.
The Aztec game I went for eagles +jags but I think I lost because of the archer rush just did too much damage, I was able to come back economically but never military wise, we had one big fight and I just lost because champs vs my eagles were bad and I couldn't get enough jag warriors to get him, I tried to mix in some skirms but I honestly feel skirms are bad vs archers they just don't fight well at all. I was vs Vietnamese and rattin archers are so strong mixed with regular archers. Can someone help me understand what to do vs Viets? My guess was to add in onagers which I was lacking that game.
Now I am Huns vs Britions, which my skirms are very bad vs his units, I had paladins but I just couldn't beat his kiting he mixed in halbs and just can't do anything at that point. I felt like it was useless to have champs or anything to fight the spearman I mixed in skirms but it didn't seem they did anything at all vs the added range Arb's/longbowman which he didn't even get. Again I think onagers were probably my best bet but how to beat ranged longbowman and arbs I didn't feel siege would help it would just get snipped. Then again I don't know much, during the game I did do a paladin flank to his other TC and just decided not to fight him, but I was so far behind this didn't really matter he had critical mass of archers that just nothing to kill it with.
Both maps were on hillfort with regular age 3 to 2 TC's I think maybe I shouldn't have went for the 3rd TC so quickly for sure, and maybe a safer build. It seems the meta on that map is double arc range production and rush with like 20 crossbow because most people fast expand on this map.
I would be interested to see peoples opinions and thoughts, I know aztecs have the added +1/1 for skirms I had that but my skirms seemed trash IMO vs ratt archers. My overall idea is that I need onagers and to not let them reach a critical mass. Also probably should do cav harassment to his bases earlier to slow down the roll of his arbs.
