So I decided I want to learn to play open maps a little more. My choice atm is either play arena/hideout or lose so I'd like to change that! This is why I decided to pick up a good 21 pop scout rush, with a kinda fast castle time after that.
However, when I hit feudal 9:40 my opponent usually is fully walled already. If I scout this should I still make scouts for map control, or should I aim for a faster castle time? Also, if I make scouts, what should I really do with them? Quite a few times the opponent has archers behind his walls and I'm not exactly sure what to do, because if I attack his walls he'll just kill my scouts and then I have no army to defend at home.
Some tips on good scout play would be well appreciated!
Edit:
Also, if I get scouts in my base it seems so easy to defend with like 2 spears. How many scouts should I at least use to engage vs a spear? and when is it worth it to kill a vill with your scouts versus all your scouts dying to villagers fighting back?
