As far as I know, almost every single A-tier or S-tier AoE2 and AoE4 tournament (and many smaller ones) have been posted to the 'Zone, and many have used this forum for scheduling, etc. It has become routine for players to check the main page to see what tourneys are coming up, and the calendar is the closest thing we have to a tournament schedule.
With the recent announcement of NC4, this legacy and function may be facing its end. I have not seen any official announcement of NC4, its qualifiers, or general tournament info on these forums. As far as I am aware, it has only been announced on streams and liquipedia.
Is this the beginning of the end for the 'Zone's tournament info dynasty?
It is common knowledge that Nili does not like AoEZone, and does not participate in these forums. Therefore it is no surprise that he did not post his special tournament here, but he is also the tournament coordinator now, so his personal feelings about AoEZone could influence (or outright end) its role as a tournament information host.
Given that AoEZone is one of the largest central hubs for Age of Empires, regardless of its flaws, should it be standard to post tournaments to this platform? Is it disrespecting the sponsors (Microsoft or otherwise) to not spread tournament information to the broadest possible audience?
Thoughts?
