Also, almost every pro player, caster, and streamer thinks AoEZone is toxic AF and tells their chat any time it comes up, so good luck overcoming that image

They aren't completely wrong. Best resent example is how Nili was treated here after he announced that N4C was AOE 4 tournament and he didn't invite Memb to NAC 4. You can criticize those decisions, but some people went too far and mods did nothing.Reddit is a completely different content format than a standing forum.

Why so meanIf you create topics with good information, data, give honest answers or ask honest questions, you already contribute to making this site better.
It doesn't need to be like 10 years ago, doesn't need to be like Reddit or Discord channels, but there are lots of options to discuss and contribute here.
What? There was nothing mean about that. Why so mean

Nili's community backlash was absoltely foreseeable. He was the official AoE tournament prizepool allocater and he allocated a big part of it to his own tournament for AoE4, that only lived on it's undeserved hype and was already in a decline at that time. They aren't completely wrong. If you take certain positions in life, you automatically accept certain resposibilities with it. Like if I'm a football player, I don't bet on football because people will assume I will cheat for my own benefit. If I can distribute money, I don't take a big part of it for my own benefit and show the community the big middle finger at the same time for choosing a game, the majority doesn't want to watch.
But I understand them of course, that they prefer their own discords than this forum, where they can live in their own critic free bubble. Who likes reading or feeling the consequences of their own actions.
Whatever the reason, he also stopped using AoEZone as the publishing ground for his tourneys, and that's basically the only function the Zone has left that is usefulNili's community backlash was absoltely foreseeable. Criticism is fine, but calling him traitor or accusing him of corruption etc is going too far, when he has put so much of his time and own money to the scene. One of the reasons why NAC 5 will be the last one is because Nili has been forced to use to his own savings every time.Nili's community backlash was absoltely foreseeable. Pretty sure GL bailed him out last NAC. Honestly more of a (lack of,) planning and overproduction problem. Normally you would have a budget secured before moving forward with an event in the way of sponsors, funding, etc. For all of the Europeans who love LANs they aren't necessary and arguably make it harder for an international community to thrive. How much resources are spent on accommodations and travel that couldn't be done better elsewhere? Bet you could find more players willing to train and compete if the prize pool wasn't limited to the top 8. Slogging through weeks of gruelling deadlines and arranging schedules to accommodate others just to receive nothing. No player needs to worry about travel restrictions, visas, missing work, etc.Criticism is fine, but calling him traitor or accusing him of corruption etc is going too far, when he has put so much of his time and own money to the scene. Or have meaningful discussions that actually gets moderated a reasonable amount and weeds out the useless or hostile comments.Zone was always about community interaction.
But now we have thousands of silo'd discords where we can create echo chambers and a less interactive website with far less input.
