I was looking at the main event on liquepedia and I saw that currently the plan is 4 groups of 4. I know this was how it was done in previous tournaments:
KotD3: https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/King_of_the_Desert/3
RBW4: https://liquipedia.net/ageofempires/Red_Bull_Wololo/4
however, I don't like the repeat match ups which often occur for the decider game. For example:
KotD3 - Max vs Dogao, Yo vs Chart
RBW4 - Daut vs Nicov, Jordan vs Vinchester, Villese vs Mbl
In some of these cases, the clear winner from the first round loses the decider game (Max vs Dogao, Jordy vs Vinch, Villese vs Mbl), the other cases the result is the same. Either way, I don't think this structure is as entertaining as for example the structure from KotD4 – where it's very similar but no repeat match ups since it's 2 groups of 8.
Is this something that can be reconsidered? It would be a shame to have those 16 players come to Heidelberg, and then have to do repeat match ups in the early rounds.
