I am just astonished at how they spend time thinking about putting in an EW/DM queue. Same thing with the auto features and the "new" menu.
Their matchmaking is ass. Their teamgame rating calculation is ass. Their lobby system is ass.
And this is what they are working on.
Do you remember how popular it was for the first ~5 years (zone.com days)?DM is game mode since aoe 1, but in all its versions it was never popular at any age of empires game, it was more attractive than turbo but that was all, i don't understand all the rant about it
Yeah. Lobbies were kind of full. I played in those.Do you remember how popular it was for the first ~5 years (zone.com days)?
Conceptually. Or as a viewer.I am curious how you can prefer EW when its nearly impossible to find a game
Totally agree. Ranked lobby is the way to go for a less populated community. It keeps the laddar alive without the hassle of a broken match making system.DM is game mode since aoe 1, but in all its versions it was never popular at any age of empires game, it was more attractive than turbo but that was all, i don't understand all the rant about it, their MM is not functional with such low amount of players, dmers already are playing in the lobby rather than ranked, so it is not really killing them.
The mistake from the devs was to add DM in the first place to the match making, just looking at voobly and HD Custom Scenarios specially CBA had more players and a more healthy player base, so just by going around numbers custom scenarios would have made more sense for the MM, but still i think ranked lobbies for those game modes would be the best at the end for everyone.
If you are a dmer please focus your efforts asking for a ranked lobby instead of keeping the game mode in the MM cause it ain't gonna work.
Would that not be true for EW, also?I think if more RMers gave DM a fair try (let's say 5-10 games in a short period of time) they'd like it more than they expect.
One great thing about DM is you can play 2-3 games in a 30 minute span whereas you'd be lucky to get one RM game in that same timeframe. It's a nice game mode for people who have a bit more time restrictions.

Most of them like full walling, no army into fc boom. There's no way in hell they'd like something fast and open like DM 11.I think if more RMers gave DM a fair try (let's say 5-10 games in a short period of time) they'd like it more than they expect.

I don't think so, as there is no time limit on the ladder and it's basically just a normal RM game with a later start. Games can still go to post-imp if people start (stone-) walling early enough (minute 1-3).Would that not be true for EW, also?
