Something which has been bothering me for a while now is how comfortable many people in the community are with using offensive and harmful language. When somebody does something unpopular, it's derided as '******ed'; players are happy slagging off people as 'gay' for playing in a certain way; one horrific example I saw in game last night was a player gutting my teammate's base and then bragging in chat about 'Holocausting' it.
It really hurts to see such language proliferate throughout the community, being used unashamedly in forums such as this one and by popular streamers who are supposed to be the face of the game. It would be really good to see a collective effort to clean up the language in the community to be more accessible and friendly.
I appreciate that English is not the native language of many people in the Age community, so it is entirely understandable that some people may not understand the harm that these words carry. I also know, however, that some people use them precisely because they are shocking and uncomfortable. Whichever it is, I would love for the community to come together and stop using and accepting such harmful language. To aspire to higher standards to make the game a better environment for everyone.
