Hi everyone. I was wondering if someone could explain why certain exploits are still in the game, and whether it would be feasible to remove them. I'm thinking of three in particular:
1) Age up score drop. Being able to tell if your opponent has clicked up just by watching the score is a skill and part of the game, but it doesn't really seem like it should be. It seems like it could be fixed by giving players a score bump for clicking up that's equal to the score drop for the spent resources. Somewhat artificial, since clicking up in itself doesn't materially improve a player's position, but the benefits would outweigh this.
2) Palisade/house/farm scanning. Again, this is information that it doesn't really make sense for players to have access to. It could be fixed by making unbuilt foundations not reveal the terrain. Players can place foundations on any available location that they've explored, and if it's obstructed by other players' unscouted units or buildings then the villagers will refuse to build only after walking up to it (same as when a unit moves into an unbuilt foundation currently).
3) Laming stragglers. Again, it makes no sense for a player to be able to make a tree magically disappear on the other side of the map. This could be fixed by making the straggler stump disappear only after the foundation starts being built.
Thoughts?
