You try ending the game before it matters by making a landing or something like that. Yes it's still a disadvantage because your options are limited but it gives you maybe 30% to win instead of 5%.
I hate to say it but quite often these are the types of responses I'd get if I complained about how OP a unit is...like Mangudai for example. "just don't let them get to Mangudai". Well yes but you can't always prevent them from getting to Mangudai. For the record I'm fine with Mangudai, I was just using it as an example.
That shouldn't be a solution to bad balance or bad map generation.
