Love all the haters jumping on the one loss Viper took...also in G5 Yellow played out of his skin...fully deserved that one and Viper fanboys saying he lost on purpose are crazy...I will say that I have never seen Viper play a game with Mayans in that style before and we know they are one of his fav civs...all round a great effort from Yellow and no surprise at the result!
Well for peopple who knows aoc G5 was a big mistake from viper trying that fwd in the wrong place, any other player would have died after that, but guess what viper managed to survive and during that game he did a great comeback, he got better economy, in fact he only lose that game cus he ran out of gold...yellow's economy was really weak, the weird decision from viper cost him that game, anyways he will defeat jordan so there is no problem for him.
i dont understand how everyone says that viper did a huge mistake with that fwd in game 5 and lost it...the way i see it yellow had an excellent and ballsy reaction ,not going feudal bumping more militia and pulling those vills to stop the fwd. Rest of the games viper clearly superior no need to comment.
Well, I just find it hard to describe the complete lack of micro, poor unit and structure selection which is stuff Viper usually got down on automatic gear. Engaging in clearly disadvantageous hill battles, not building defenses when enemy is about to bust through wall with clearly outnumbering army, not utilizing eco advantage to build heavier counters to mass enemies. That he managed to hold on, was because Yellow wasn't able to go full throttle either and made a lot of inefficient mistakes in his push.
I think Viper played in a different way the G5 because after professionaly winning all the rest of the games then Yellow said "you make me boring aoc now". I think Viper wanted to do some fun stuff just in a single game to keep the magic alive... instead of being so serious all over the tournament. In the other hand i believe that Viper have interest for that kind of experiance. Despite all that have been said, the first 4 games are masterpieces about outplaying a great style and elite player as Yellow and even teach the game in general. Nothing else is funnier in AoC for me.
Viper didn't purposely lose, but he did try a very risky strategy for no apparent reason. He was either bored of beating Yellow by using traditional style play, or he got overconfident and thought he could beat Yellow at his own game (forward). Probably a combo of both. Hubris cost Viper a win, but it probably won't make a difference in the long-run.
Best games of CoT by far, both players showed remarkable skills, yellow's super push style, and viper´s explosive under-pressure play.BTW I still dont understand that double fw on double arabia 1111.
