Tournament Rules
§1 - Citizenship
You must be a German Citizen, hold a German Passport and have lived in Germany for the majority of your life.
If you believe this rule wrongly makes you unable to sign up, please approach the TheViper through an AoEZone private message to have a look at your case.
§2 - Seeding and Participation
The AoE2 German Championship main event has space for 8 players. After sign-ups are closed, the top four highest-rated players on the AoE2 DE 1v1 ladder will be invited to the main event. The next sixteen highest-rated players will compete in a twelve day qualifier to determine the last four spots.
§3 - Respecting Deadlines
All players must respect the tournament schedule and times for each round. There will be no exceptions or delays granted to any player. No excuse will be accepted for failing to play in the specified time frame. If the admin staff determines that a player is trying to avoid scheduling and playing the tournament games, the player may be warned, receive an admin loss for the game, or match or be disqualified from the tournament. Players failing to schedule, or not showing enough effort to get the match scheduled (determined by the staff), may get replaced very shortly, as we're on a tight schedule.
§4 - Admin Times
If both players cannot come to an agreement in scheduling their match, the staff will analyze the situation and schdule in order to enforce a fair time for both players determined by the Admin.
§5 - Respect & Fairplay
Every player must respect their opponents. Bad behavior (determined by the staff) will result in a warning and may lead to immediate disqualification of the player. This tournament values not only great skills but also sportsmanship and fairness. Any insult, racism, or flaming will not be tolerated. Laming and mind games in-game are allowed.
Players are requested to limit the time between games as much as possible to make the experience as smooth for everyone as possible.
§6 - No Smurfing
All players have agreed to the No Smurf rule. Each player must submit all relevant player usernames for Admin discussion. Smurfing and account sharing is not allowed. Any discovery of the aforementioned will result in the player's disqualification.
§7 - Recorded Games Posting
The winning player must post their recorded games, the map draft & civ bans in the Scheduling thread immediately after the conclusion of their games.
§8 - Scheduling
Players are encouraged to schedule their matches in the Scheduling Forum. However Discord or other means may also be used, but has to be communicated in the scheduling topics in case anyone wants to cast the Qualifier matches.
§9 - Restoring
In the case of disconnections, the players must attempt to save and restore. All the .aoe2record game files (multiple parts of the game before/after drop) must be provided when posting the recorded games.
If restoring is not possible, the recorded game should be provided, along with any additional information to the Administration of the tournament instantly. Subsequently, facts will be analyzed and a final decision made. If an Admin is not around at the time of playing and the players cannot agree on a result, continue with the rest of the series and if there are still complains it will be evaluated as soon as possible in order to achieve a fair outcome.
§10 - Schedule Reliability
Players are expected to show up on time and be ready to play their match when it's their turn. There is a chance that your match begins before or after the scheduled time, but you have to keep an eye on the progress of the tournament in order to be ready when your match begins.
§11 - Prize Money
Prizes will be sent via PayPal or Bank Transfer. Keep in mind that there may be fees deducted of your transfer. All prize winners will be given an invoice template to fill in at the end of the tournament.
§12 - Communication
Each player must be fluent in English and is responsible for scheduling, possible disputes, and everything else regarding their participation.
§13 - Streaming
The event is open streaming, but you have to let people know that the event is sponsored by TeeJay and hosted and streamed by TheViper a couple of times throughout your streams of the event. You must also show the tournament banner at all times between every game while streaming the event, and the tournament logo during games.
Same rules apply if you stream your Point of View as a player. As a player you must also make sure to have no alerts with sounds, such as donation alerts and other alerts with text to speech. You may also not read your chat from your streaming platform during the games, and are therefore required to use a webcamera that shows your face in order to control that you're not reading chat during games. Additional monitors on top of your main monitor playing the game should be turned off during games.
The Banner and Logo can be downloaded at the bottom of this post.
§14 - Rules Additions
New rules can be added and current rules can be changed. However, Admins MUST inform the players about such changes in the AoE2 German Championship Rules & Settings forum. All the latest additions in Rules & Settings will be in red.

§2 - Restarts
Each player has one restart per series.
A restart must be requested before minute 4:00 game time (remember that this is shorter than real minutes). When a game is restarted, each player must choose the same civilizations as in the previous attempt.
§3 - Bugged Map Restarts
In a game during the Main Event the players may pause once per game and inquire about a bugged map if they believe something is wrong. The inquiry must be made to TheViper#3589 on Discord. Players will be attempted to reach out to in order to restart the game if there is an obvious error within the map spawn of the very game.
During the Qualifiers the games won't be monitored by the Admin, but you're asked to apply common sense to situations. If there is any issue, write to TheViper#3589 on Discord.
§4 - Nomad Rules
In the event of a no-TC start (example: Nomad) - that is a start where players do not have Town Centers but only villagers:
The first buildings constructed must be either a Town Center, Dock, Mill, house or Lumber camp.
Villager Fights are not allowed before minute 3:30 game time.
No Barracks, no Outpost, no Palisade Wall, and no more than one House may be built until your Town Center is up.
No TC fighting is allowed. If it happens the game must be replayed. Should the Administration decide that a TC fight occurred intentionally, that player may receive an Admin Loss for that game.
Before minute 3:30 game time it is not allowed to block another TC being built by using villager(s), intentionally killing enemy villagers, boars, sheep, or deer, or sit under an enemy TC to steal sheep. After 3:30 minutes players are free to do any of the above. Breaking these rules will result in an AW for the infringed player.
Killing enemy boar and deer will be defined as: you are not allowed to lame any deer (killing more than 1 deer without taking 20+ food from it) and you are not allowed to kill boars without the intent to harvest the boar yourself for food. (I.e. palisading a villager with the intent to kill simply to deny your opponent from using it)
§5 - Civilizations
Different Civilizations means a civilization must be picked. Choosing "Random", "Full Random" or "Mirror" at the start of the game is not allowed.
If a player incorrectly chooses a civilization that has been banned or has previously been played the opposing player may choose their replacement civilization while still following any civilization rules.
The new civilizations released with the Lords of the West DLC will be available and part of the tournament upon release on the 26th of January.
§6 - Graphical Mods
Any graphic changes that only affect the player's Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition are allowed.
§7 - Cheating
Cheating is not allowed under any circumstances. Players using any kind of cheat will be disqualified from the AOE2 German Championship.
§8 - Automatic Agreement & Punishment
All the game settings provided in this post MUST be followed. Not following them may result in penalties and possibly disqualification.
§9 - Colours
Players are encouraged to play as Blue & Red (1 & 2), but allowed to choose their color freely.
§10 - Straggler Trees & Fish
Players are not allowed to delete the straggler trees which spawn within 10 tiles of an opposing player’s Town Center. This rule does not apply if the straggler tree which is being deleted forms part of a wall for the defending player or if it is cut down by one of the attacking player's villagers.
Players may not delete fish spawning on sand or Mangrove shallow terrain by placing a building on top of them.
§11 - Server
Server will be westeurope unless a reasonable argument for another server can be brought to the attention of the Admin.
