Kasparov might be ahead of him in terms of dominance?Magnus Carlsen is of course one to add there. Both from Norway as well.
Stuff like this is absolutely inhuman. It’s like Jose Capablanca (world chess champ in 1900s) who didn’t lose a single chess game for around 7 years, and he played against some of the best players in the world.Jahangir Khan in squash. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jahangir_Khan
He did not lose a single match for a five year period (555 straight wins) from 1981 to 1986 or so and completely dominated the sport.
Cycling: Lance Armstrong should be on the list if he did not get stripped off.
F1: Hamilton or Schumacher?
Maybe, yes. To me it is more that they’re both Norwegian and at the very top, so that makes Magnus more of an equivalent.Kasparov might be ahead of him in terms of dominance?
So F1 is not meant to be a real competition but rather a means of marketing for luxury sport car manufacturers?I'm gonna have to call bullshit on Schumacher.
Did Viper consistently play with an OP civ (like Cumans on release) while everyone else played low tier ones?
I know there are so many fans of F1 that will **** on me. And I agree it's a bit more nuanced than what I'm saying, but in terms of competitiveness F1 is a big joke. It's like having a 120kg boxer fight against opponents who are 100kg, 80kg and 60 kg. Can it be entertaining? Sure, but it's not competitive. It's a show business like gladiators in Roman times.
I'm not saying he was a bad pilot of course, but let everyone drive the same car and then we can actually talk about it more seriously.
Unless we can prove the famous Viper map hacks, then I can actually agree ^^
It's a business, I don't know exactly how big of a component marketing for luxury cars is, but surely it must be a part of it.So F1 is not meant to be a real competition but rather a means of marketing for luxury sport car manufacturers?
@Zbyszek I've heard this about Alonso from many people. If it's anywhere true it's a travesty he only has two championships. As far as Formula 1 goes Fernando Alonso has been the worlds best driver in every year he competed. might be beaten by Ayrton Senna or Jim Clark as all time greats. Schumacher and Hamilton never were on that level.
That is true. I think I was thinking the competitiveness was being sacrificed for the marketing because manufacturers could have their influence reduced so that cars are more or less the same but this would maybe bother the manufacturers because it denies them the opportunity to show they are "superior" or whatever. It's a business, I don't know exactly how big of a component marketing for luxury cars is, but surely it must be a part of it.
Not like other sports aren't, but most are business AND competitive

In terms of sporting achievements probably the biggest individuality we ever had in FranceTeddy Riner, a French judoka.
Quoting from Wikipedia "In his career, Riner was only defeated nine times in elite international championships. He lost to Brayson and Tölzer in 2006, to Bianchessi and Rybak in 2007 and to Muneta and Grim Vuijsters in 2008. He lost to Abdullo Tangriev in the third round of the 2008 Summer Olympics, before obtaining the bronze medal, and on 13 September 2010 he lost the openweight title at the 2010 World Judo Championships in Tokyo to Daiki Kamikawa, his last defeat before a series of 154 victories. After almost 10 years, he lost in the third round of the Paris Grand Slam against world number 2 Kokoro Kageura".
The dude is legit incredible
