Welcome to the SY Nations Cup II prediction contest, a big thank you to SY for sponsoring this with a prize pool of
$1 000 US :!:
This year the prediction contest will consist of two methods. Both methods have been used before in recent tournament. These methods are a match predicting contest (like WSVG) in the Group Stage and a wagering/odds betting contest (like War is Coming) for the latter stages of the tournament.
This topic is for the prediction contest for the group stage, match prediction. The premise of this is simple: predict the outcome of each of the 60 matches scheduled and receive points based on how close your prediction is to the actual outcome.
Rules |
- Participants can enter any time before the deadline. All rounds will have different topics where your predictions can be placed. The deadline to enter bets is when the first match of that round starts in the respective week, i.e. the bets for round 3 close when the first match of that round starts in the week of July 27th. Any bets placed after the deadline, will be voided. Topics for the predictions: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5 and Round 6.
- When games are being played before the deadline, that particular wager will close at the match start.
- An entry consists of a score prediction for every match to be played and the finishing order of the groups. The finishing order must be submitted along with the results for the first round. Entries with invalid scores will be disqualified. Remember that every match is a best of 5 games.
- Entries must be submitted using the template in the respective topics.
- Multiple entries will result in disqualification.
- You are allowed to edit your future predictions up until the entry deadline. Please mark on your entry somewhere that you made an edit. Any edits made after the deadline will void that entry.
- Rules are subject to change as deemed necessary.
- Players who are part of the tournament are allowed to participate. However, they will not be allowed to place wagers that relate to any match they or their team is a part of.
- Prediction contest admins are nimanoe (from July 24th) and prv_limb. Admins can always be contacted with any questions or other things concerning the contest.
- You must have a PayPal account to receive your prize.

Scoring |
Each entry will receive points based upon accuracy of their predictions and such. The entry with the highest total at the conclusion of the tournament is the winner. In case of a tie, the prize will be split amongst the winners.
Scoring will work as follows:
- For predicting the exact outcome of a match, receive 3 points.
- For a prediction off by one game, receive 1 point (e.g. Prediction is 3-1, Actual is 3-2 or 3-0).
- For correctly predicting winner of the match, receive 1 point.
- For correctly predicting final placement of a player, receive 1 point (e.g. Predicted player X to finish 2nd and player X actually does finish 2nd).
- For correctly predicting the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth place of a group receive 10 additional points (per group).
A "perfect" entry is worth 304 points broken down as follows:
180 points from rule 1, with 60 perfect predictions of matches
0 points from rule 2, with 0 predictions 1 game off
60 points from rule 3, for correctly predicting the winner of 60 matches
24 points from rule 4, for correctly predicting final placement of 24 teams
40 points from rule 5, for correctly predicting the exact order of the 6 teams all groups
Each match is worth up to 4 points (with a perfect prediction; 3 points from rule 1 and 1 point from rule 3). The other possible outcomes are:
- 2 points: Predicted correct winner but off by one game in final score
- 1 point: Predicted correct winner but off by two games in final score OR off by one game in final score but predicted incorrect winner (e.g. predicted 3-2 but actual was 2-3)
- 0 points: Did not predict correct winner and was off by two or more games in final score.
If you wish to participate but do not want your entry public, you may submit an entry via PM.
