The two pools concept
Two Pools is a 2v2 format that is meant to feature a large number of civilizations from AoE2. Each team uses two pools of civilizations (hence the name). The first pool is selected by each team as normal, with no global repeats in civs. Then, the second pool of each team is drafted by the opponent for the given team (as they will try to give weaker civs to the opponent). This yields two pools of civs for each team, and one of the players on each team uses a civ from the team's respective pool 1, while the other, from pool 2. This tests the ability of players on how they can adapt to certain weaker civilizations offered for them, and how they can combine it with stronger ones.
