Greetings Traveller!
You just bumped into the Rules & Settings section of the Two Pools Tournament!
Tournament description and format
The tournament itself is planned to be a 2v2 tournament on various maps using a unique civilization-drafting system. Every series, each team uses two pools of civilizations, with Pool #1 being drafted by each team for themselves, the other - Pool #2 - being drafted by the opponent for them. Each team will have to use one civ from their respective Pool #1, and one from Pool #2 every game. This will add an additional element of strategy to civilization drafting, as teams will be able to draft civilizations for the opponent, that are weaker in certain situations.
The main event of the tournament will feature 8 teams at maximum, with a single-elimination bracket, at 22-25th August.
Quarterfinals: Best of five
Semifinals: Best of seven
Grand final: Best of seven
The main event of the tournament will consist of one weekend and 2 weekdays before in total, with two quarterfinals being played on thursday, two on friday, the semifinals on saturday, and the Grand Final on Sunday.
The entire event - including qualifiers - will be livestreamed at https://www.twitch.tv/lidakor. Other casters are also welcome, see the streaming policy below.
Teams, registration
Any team may register for the event, with 2 starting players and 1 backup. A team may not consist of more than 3 people.
A team may only register until the registration deadline by providing the usernames and Voobly-profile link.
All players must use the same account they registered with the entire tournament.
The main event shall contain 8 teams in total. Out of the 8 spots, 4 will be invitational based on Doubles Age results, the other 4 will be decided by qualifiers. Invited teams:
- DauT + slam Confirm
- Liereyy + Hearttt Confirm
- BacT + ACCM + saymyname Confirm
- TheViper + TaToH + JorDan_23 Confirm
In the qualifier group stage, each group consists of four teams, with the two teams getting the highest points getting into the main event. Each team will play a total of three group-stage series, with the other three teams in the given group. All series will be played in a Play all five system, with each team getting 1 point after each game win. As such, if Team A beats Team B 3-2, Team A will be awarded 3 points, Team B will get 2. Civilization drafting uses the same rules as the main event (see below). In the event of equal points within a group, Tiebrakers will be held after the group-stage qualifiers.

Civilizations
Each team has one global ban for a series. Each team will use two pools (Pool 1 and Pool 2). Every match, one of the players from a certain team will have to select a civ from Pool 1, the other player from Pool 2. It is up to the players to decide which player picks from which pool, and it can be changed between matches. Pool 1 will be drafted by the teams first, with team in the regular ABBA... order. After that, Pool 2 will be drafted. For Team A, Pool 2 will be drafted by Team B and vice versa. A civilization may only be used once globally.

Maps
Map pool will mostly include land maps, with slinging disabled until Imperial Age AND the research of coinage. The map pool should consist of around 9-10 maps in total. Every series, first map is an arabia-type map, followed by the home maps drafted by the teams. Teams should have their home maps selected after the map bans. Number of bans should depend on the number of matches played:
Best of 5: 1 ban each team, 2 home maps
Best of 7: 1 ban each team, 3 home maps
Map bans and picks should preceed the civilization drafting.
After every match, the losing team's upcoming home map will be played next.
Complete Map Pool is planned to be revealed later.
