Banning Dostoyevsky would be like banning the Slavs from a tournament or the whole game 11
Being cut off from swift doesnt prevent them from making transactions, it just makes it slower and more cumbersome.I think they've been cut from most banking systems (SWIFT)
Man, what do you expect people to say on camera when one can get 15 years of prison for "spreading anti-Russian propaganda"Not really, today there was an interview with Russians in youtube and general sentiment was: "I am not happy about sanctions, but yeah we will eat less in restaurants, may be wear same clothes one more year, but if this is what we need to achieve bigger things, be it".
I get the sentiment, and yes reparations did ruin the Weimar Republic, but when Hitler came along many of the reparations were lifted and countries began investing in Germany, so it's not really that simpleYou as as a german should now best that sanctioning a nation into oblivion is a great idea. Thats why we only had one World War so far. Oh wait..........
The problem with that perspective is the following: If you get bombarded every day with the kind of war propaganda that is going on right now in Russia (and I will not repeat that nonsense here, but I guess, most people know what I am talking about), there is already no dream like that. Why would your "parent of 8 yo Russian" want their child to travel Europe, if "The West is The Enemy" (and pro-Kremlin media, which are now the only ones left) have been building up that narrative not just now, but for the past years. That's why I support banning sport teams, popular individuals in addition to economic sanctions and instituions. you have to kill the dream, a parent of 8 yo Russian should realize that her/his kid can't dream about being next Daniil Medvedev, no chance to get educated abroad, they can't travel Europe, no more Euroleague wins for CSKA, no more Champions League, no more hockey or olympics. Then they will start questioning leadership.
I get your point. And I do see some merit in it.That's why I support banning sport teams, popular individuals in addition to economic sanctions and instituions. you have to kill the dream, a parent of 8 yo Russian should realize that her/his kid can't dream about being next Daniil Medvedev, no chance to get educated abroad, they can't travel Europe, no more Euroleague wins for CSKA, no more Champions League, no more hockey or olympics. Then they will start questioning leadership.
Where is he located, in west Ukraine or Russian occupied areas? I hope he is safe and sound and won't face conscription.Back to topic, according to World Rumble liquipedia page : "classicpro was unable to play the series due to internet outages in Ukraine".
He still hopes to play his MoS2 set (tomorrow), so it seems like a safe-ish location, "just" with (understandable) internet-problems.I hope he is safe and sound and won't face conscription.
Russians are totally brainwashed by the propaganda from russiatv, majority supports this genocide and they don't oppose the murders on innocent children, elders and females. When this pointless invasion began, I was optimistic that the average Russian person realized how stupid Putin was being about all this, but now I'm not so sure. I guess it's hard to say for sure, but everything seems to indicate that there's an appalling number of Russians who actually support this.
I've met many Russians over the course of my life, and they were basically all without exception wonderful people, but I guess maybe that makes perfect sense since progressive Russians are obviously more likely to leave Russia for countries with less oppressive governments.
Anyway, I think the best thing we can do--short of going to actual war with Russia--is to do everything we can to show them how widespread throughout the world the opposition to this invasion is.
