and why
Why do you like these guys?
Controversial
Didn't Hannibal get defeated moreso because he lost too much support from the Carthage state and less because Scipio was a magnificent general? Not saying he wasn't a great general tho.Hannibal - great strategy, winning elite Roman armies with barbarian mercenaries and Numidian cavalry
Caesar - almost didnt lose any battle (I cant remember now if he even lost any), he won everywhere - Gauls, Roman rebels and their allies in Hispany, Greece, Egypt and war in Pontus
Scipio - he won Hannibal, so 11
Augustus - the most succesfull emperor
Sulla - another great strategist, he won Pontus and few times he had to conquer Rome I guess he is taken like bad guy, but Marius was even worse
Aetius - last real Roman
I could write a lot more people through all history I like, but as I am very interested in Roman history I stay with these.
Yeah, he was really great in battles, not in war, he won Romans 3 times he could try to conquer Rome, but instead of that he was raiding other cities and he was waiting his brother with more army from Hispany, but he was killed in battle with Romans and Hannibal got no support by Carthage, so Scipio started conquering of Hispany and in final Battle near Zama in Africa, Hannibal lost, because his army was mainly infantry, Numidians were already with Scipio and elephants have never been really helpfull in battles, so basically Hannibal had almost no chance of winning. Also he was also in position that he picked a place for fight, in this one he couldnt, because Romans were so near of Carthage and he couldnt go back.Didn't Hannibal get defeated moreso because he lost too much support from the Carthage state and less because Scipio was a magnificent general? Not saying he wasn't a great general tho.
