I just want to say that your dedication to this is really incredible.
Thank you Rayne!I just want to say that your dedication to this is really incredible.
Hello Memeluke!I was wondering, is it really correct to consider DE2 tournaments (such as NAC3) AoE2 tournaments? On that site Fifa n are all considered different. Maybe it would be less exciting to see the original aoe2 dead and stuck, but also we could wait and cheer for the new one to beat the prize money of its older brother.
I think it makes lot of sense to combine all AoE2 expansions including DE.Well, I thought about it last november when DE2 was launched and because of the size of our community, the number of championships and the size of the prizes, I decided to consider it to be the same game, as well as the move from AoE2 to HD.
Isn't amazing, lucky? I'm trying to add as many tournaments as I can, but this year is so busy for me but I'm trying to track, at least, tournaments links, prizes, dates and prize distribution to add when I can. What a great time for AOE II. Thanks to the recent tournaments, the support from Microsoft and the work of marciocolombia to record it, AOE2 is sitting close to 1.370.000$ distibuted.
Viper just crossed the 100k$ line thanks to HC3. 2020 is already his biggest year, with 24k$ earned (click to zoom in).

Daut might soon be the 2nd player with the most earnings, with 71k$ he is only 3k$ short of Grunt( 74k$) .

And, for i guess the first time in a looooong time, AOE2 got featured near the top of the "recent tournaments" at esportsearnings. 2 times in 3 months ! (following, a picture of it at two different times)

2020 is already a very big year, the 4th biggest of AOE II history, with 125k. The next big tournament might allow it to go soon higher than 2019 (137k).
I'm hoping the best for the months and years to come !
We love this game
Thank you, @oozkan! I think I was wrong about some other recent championship that he didn't play or won't play - I think BOA2.@marciocolombia For Tete Invitational, I believe heartt also played couple of games for AM but he is not mentioned. https://www.esportsearnings.com/tournaments/41172-tete-invitational-3v3
paceI mean, how come AOE is so so so far behind than the other games?
CS, starcraft, even Dota are almost same old as AOE2.
Agree for the part you mentioned about MOBA, they are faster, the freemium model can make sustainable profit (which have the money to invest in competition) and somehow addicted to players. But for the SC. I think the so called "fancy effects" might only fit to certain groups of people.FPS and MOBA are fairly straight forward, you kill more you win generally. On the other hand AOE has a lot more than that, you can lose fights and have negative KD but win with bigger eco or map control. This makes it way harder for audience to understand the game. While SC is also a RTS, the faster pace and fancy effects make it way more appealing to outsiders. I mean, just compare the highlight clips between the games. People might think the casters are morons for being so hyped when they see a player quick walls his vil or enemys scout.
Might be true. But I definetely don't think "pace" take a lot of accounts here. See Dota is a much slower game in terms of gameplay than Lol but they ranked 1-5 in the list. See the top 500 in the list, the biggest AOE competition is not even close to the 500th, man this is so sad and wasted. Games like tank world, other mobile games, got larger prize pool than AOE. How could mobile game be more competitive than a RTS seriously? Not only does SC have faster pace, but also more game deciding fights with wider variety of units. Im not saying there arent any huge fights or badabooms in AOE, but most of the time its more like small raids here and there. While currently there are 35 civs with own unique units, you see knights or xbows in 70%+ of the games as basically all civs share the same units, even if the game goes long enough where players mass siege and UUs, variety of units on the battlefield in 1v1s would still be fairly limited.
And ofcoz promotions and marketing also helps, Blizzard WAS a much better company than Microsoft.
Are you talking about prize pool?I mean, how come AOE is so so so far behind than the other games?

interesting. thanks for information.
