Elevations will definitely influence the placement (as I already said), but do you see every farm being placed perfectly during an expert game? That aside, many maps offer large flat area's where even a 8 farm script would do perfectly fine. The farm script really is pretty useless. Different combinations of elevation require different placement coordinates. In other words, you will get different effects each time, from gaps in placement (a legitimate problem where space is a concern) to just non placements. For this script to be worthwhile it has to be ruthlessly consistent. There is no way of detecting elevation. Modifications could be made for the script to try different placements in a certain order. Even then, that would be a massive and tedious job with still no certainty of consistency. A 4 farm placement script is barely worth the time, an 8 farm script stands no chance of success. I'm only barely scratching the surface of why this particular script is truly a waste of time, you'll just have to take my word for it.
Glad you agree. Now the deselection script can be beneficial. It would actually be a very easy script to make, I have made much more complex ones based on the same idea. It could be used for assigning villagers to resources efficiently, hussars on vills, monk micro and rams on walls in CBA among many other examples. If a player were to incorporate this into his game and practice with it, it could become a really useful micro tool for him.
Nope, it's never gonna make you a pro (which I mentioned several times before to worried players). You have to understand though that the overall effect on someone's game is going to be tiny. You have to be really fast and accurate with your mouse and hotkeys to get good at RM (not to mention strategy), and a little deselection script is not going to make anyone a pro. This is coming from a BF 1650 and high rated CS player.
Again you repeat my own words. It's not my idea, although I already used scripts about 15 years ago.Scripting has been a problem in Starcraft, but that is because it is much more like CS with set position repetitive micro actions involved. Because of the 'random' nature of RM, it is basically immune to this kind of automation. So you are far from the first person to have thought about this, and the AoC world will not be crumbling under your newfound discovery of scripts and belief in the potential of them.
Perhaps not, seeing as AHK has many uses outside the game. If there is a way to block AHK-sent events only, they might've implemented that already. If Voobly had blocked it (very unlikely), you would have been banned by now.
Unfair but unavoidableAnd let the users with an advanced gaming mouse do their thing? That would be very unfair.
This would only have the effect that using macro's solely becomes available for the wealthy people, so players from less fortunate countries would suffer until they can afford an expensive mouse. If you can avoid one thing that could be used in very cheaty ways but not the other, it's probably better to still try to block the one thing

It's not feasible to allow everything that a mouse is also capable of because mouses can do a lot of things and it'd be lame if half the community scripts their way through games and the rest is all about hardcore clicking, hotkeying and 300 APM
Mouses are hardware advantages and not blockable, just like larger monitors (and multi-monitor setups)

They probably didn't block it though, (or only very recently) since the calyx925 could use it
I see what you want to do (although I don't understand its usefulness).
You want to click-drag farms in a straight line (without holding SHIFT and clicking for each individual farm). I guess the actual building should only start when you release the left mouse button?
It's probably possible, but I think it's much more complicated than any script discussed so far and elevations/objects will cause (wide) spaces between the farms, because these can not be detected.
The script should store the mouse-button-click position and the mouse-button-release position. Build a farm at the first, calculate the next position on that line and repeat until you've reached the last position.
I don't think you will ever get this working in a satisfying way.

Sorry, you apparently tried to make it work for you in RM and it didnt work doesnot mean it wont. The monk script is standing evidence. What more can be developed is anyone's imagination. You are completely clueless. I suggest you read my posts as to why these scripts are very limited in RM and why people won't be 'scripting their way through games'.
so you would use scripts if you got an advantage from them? .-.I use ZERO scripts in RM for this reason. I think most of the people making comments like yours are 14+ noobs(in the NPL).
fair enough. i'd guess there's no way to distinguish between autohotkey sent events and system events, which is in ahk's best interest of course...Another thing to note: the admins at voobly have already discussed this topic some time ago, and the head admin has said there is no feasible way to block autohotkey and that he has no intention of attempting to do so.

And it is unskilled, cheating and must be banned.
Anyway, I never got around to reading the whole thread
I suggest that you do what you advise others to do. If you want people to read your opinion (and reply to statements that already have been answered 3 times before), just take that little time or don't bother posting yourself.calyx925 said:I suggest you read my posts before commenting *****.
Good to know. Glad we got that out of the way.the admins at voobly have already discussed this topic some time ago, and the head admin has said there is no feasible way to block autohotkey and that he has no intention of attempting to do so.
This is indeed a useful tip that was also mentioned in the link to the AHK forums I posted.if you want to use AHK in voobly, run it as an admin
Your lengthy posts full of flaming and arrogance may be more readable if you dont start your posts with "you are completely clueless".
One of your statements was "I dont use scripts in RM games for this reason", implying that you dont use it because you dont think it is that effective+?
And what are you, 5 post-maker with no flag? Better than 18+?
